Whilst I wasn't posting

. . . at the weekend I was enjoying a wine tasting. Well, not all weekend, but it certainly hung around (or should that be over) into Sunday morning. Anyway, it was great fun and I recommend it to all (not Telf). Wine tasting / appreciation is one of those things I always think it would be quite cool to be good at, which probably handily sums up my view of what's cool. Being able to distinguish quality wine and really match it to food / atmosphere and being able to pick it out in a shop would be a pretty nice skill.

Anyway, the tasting itself involved 10 wines over about an hour and a half or so; 5 whites and 5 reds and was presided over by a friend's dad who certainly seemed very knowledeable. In between glasses he told us about matching wine to food, where to buy wine and other wine related trivia and we also chatted with those around us. Or at least other people socialised readily, I've never been that good at that (and was about 30 years younger than everyone else in the room). The wines varied greatly and some were extremely nice and made me feel maybe it would be worth spending a bit more per bottle than I normally would. That said I wouldn't know what to look for yet so it could just be a waste of money.

Overall I didn't have much to say today and not much time to say it in so that'll have to do. Wine good, good wine better.
